This has already been a busy year for KIC! On January 11th a team of KIC start-ups took the Innovation Bus to Accelerate Okanagan to meet fellow entrepreneurs, AO staff and to attend Accelerate Okanagan’s New Year Kick Off event!
The result? Four Kamloops companies entered the Venture Acceleration Program (VAP), and a good time was had by all. Special thanks to the bus driver who safely navigated the slippery roads on the way home.
Businesses attending were Spire, Open Gaming Solutions, Vocaba, Memory Leaf, Fresh Grade, Mind Teams and Truvian Labs, as well as KIC staffers Lincoln Smith, Kimberely Eibl and Siobhan McKee. Best comments of the day included:
“It was super fascinating to see the Kelowna Innovation Centre and learn how the companies there work and innovate in that space. At the actual Kick Off event, it provided a huge opportunity to socialize and discuss with companies all over the Okanagan and with other companies we see every day at the Kamloops Innovation Centre.” – Chris Foster, Memory Leaf
“The Venture Acceleration Program is an exciting opportunity for our young business. Receiving advice from so many accomplished individuals is invaluable. The trip to Kelowna was a great chance for us to learn more about the other organizations within KIC and to see all of the exciting work being done in the technology sector in Kamloops.” – Chris Wright, CEO Open Gaming Solutions, Inc.
“The VAP pitch was a great experience for us – we think this program can really help us refine our business model and expand our market. When leaving the room, I realized what an awesome opportunity it was to present to a room full of proven entrepreneurs who want to help us succeed!” – Scott Foubister, Vocaba
