KIC members joined ITIA members yesterday for a presentation by David Baleshta on Investment Capital Programs in B.C. David is a portfolio manager with the Investment Capital Branch of the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism, and Innovation.
Attendees learned more about the structure of investment capital programs and how to access capital through them. They also learned that in 2010 the Thompson-Okanagan made up 11.7% of the Program’s eligible business corporations. Qualifying activities include manufactured goods from within the province, research and development, economic diversification (technology), community diversification (tourism), and non-traditional agriculture. David also ran through an example of an application, outlining the three major steps: registration application, fund raising and tax certificate, and continuing compliance.
