Startup Coffee | TRU

This month we will meet at TRU outside the main/front entrance of the House of Learning building, and afterward, take a nice walk!

Discuss new business ideas with experienced founders and mentors at Startup Coffee – a monthly meeting of students, entrepreneurs, and community members. Get feedback on the business idea you’ve been thinking about, ask questions, meet other student entrepreneurs, and get connected.

You don’t need an idea to participate. Hear what others are working on and how you can get involved in the entrepreneurial community on campus.

TRU Generator supports students, faculty, alumni, and staff with mentorship, workspace, and events. Located in the basement of the House of Learning building at Thompson Rivers University – just take the elevators down to the basement!

After losing a parent to cancer, Natalie felt motivated to develop a convenience-based restaurant that would apply the latest knowledge about supporting both physical and emotional wellness. Bio-available, whole foods-based, a rejuvenating atmosphere, local sourcing, seasonal eating, removing unhealthy ingredients like highly processed packaged foods, refined white sugar, unhealthy oils, and reducing dependence on the ingredients that most restaurants rely on almost as crutches which are known to be immune suppressants: these are the core values that would be the foundation for her restaurant’s offerings. But a focus on delicious well-balanced flavour would be what would set the concept apart from others in the industry. Natalie felt passionate about bringing these values to her community in an innovative restaurant concept. She was here to show the world that health-full can actually be about wonderful, mouth-watering flavour. That’s how ahhYaY Wellness Café was born in the unlikely town of Kamloops, British Columbia.

Hear Natalie’s story of hope, passion, and belief in the food industry during one of the most challenging periods in history for the industry, and what creative things her business is doing to triumph through a pandemic.
